A packed Hamdan Sports Complex welcomed the Hamilton Aquatics Team for the annual Speedo Short Course Meet.
The weekend not only saw over 40 club records broken, but 11 different swimmers set standards internationally for their home countries -
•Victoria Bergeli (14) - QT for Norway National Junior Team in the 50m Free (26.2).
•Gabby Helayal (15) - Lebanon National Age Record in the 100m Fly (1.06.7).
•Hilal Hilal (23) - Tanzania National Senior Record in the 100m Free (54.0) and 50m Fly (26.1).
•Lewis Burras - (17) - Fastest ever 17/U in Great Britain in 50m Free (22.3) and 100m Free (48.3).
•Yousef El Dawy - Egypt National Age Records in 100m Breast (1.11.4), 200m Breast (2.41.5) and 200 IM (2.23.1).
•Rosie Morgan (14) - Scottish National Age Records in 100m Fly (1.01.0) and 200m IM (2.18.1).
•Francesca Falzon-Young (16) - Malta National Records in 100m Free (57.3), 200m Free (2.06.6), 50m Fly (28.9) and 50m Back (30.1).
•Sophia Dumont (12) - Switzerland National Age Records in 100m Breast (1.15.6) and 400 IM (5.10.3) - TBC
•Adam Kandil (11) - Egypt National Age Records in 100m Fly (1.10.1), 50m Back (33.7), 50m Free (29.1), 100m Free (1.03.7) and 100m Back (1.12.3).
•Ahmed El Geneidy (15) - Egypt National Age Records in 100m Free (53.6) and 400m Free (4.10.6).
•Yousief Hassan (13) - Egypt National Age Record in 100m Fly (1.05.2)
Short Course Legend
Before the weekend began Ash Morris, Director of Performance, set the swimmers a challenge; who could become a ‘Short Course Legend’. Two swimmers from Potential all the way through to Elite were given the opportunity to win a specialised hat for demonstrating great short course skills. The winners were –
