Victoria held her own against some bigger and older girls, making the Semi-Final and achieving a time of 25.9 in the 50m Freestyle. Director of Swimming Ash Morris said, “Both swimmers stepped up and did their countries proud - that’s not easy on the international stage. Hopefully this is a stepping stone to bigger things in the future and this experience will be valuable, as well as motivating.”
With the Championships being showcase of the up and coming swimmers across the continent, competition is fierce. Across the five days of competition, 14 new Championship records and 1 European Junior record were set. The host country of Russia ran away from the competition with 37 total medals, which is more than double what was earned by the runner up Germany. The top 3 was rounded out by Italy with a close 16 medals.
Well done to both swimmers, you have made your countries and Hamilton Aquatics proud.
