The opening competition of the season for the Performance Pathway and Elite swimmers saw teams from across the Middle East travel to the Hamdan Sport Complex, demonstrating their early season work.
Big congratulations go to Adam Kandil [Egypt], Yousef El Dawy [Egypt] and Fran Falzon-Young [Malta] for breaking National Short Course records for their respective countries. In addition, 37 individual club records were set.
Coach Ash set an unenviable task to four Elite squad swimmers, who were asked to compete in all 16 events across the two-day weekend. Impressive performances from Maria Iorini, Rosie Morgan, Joaquin Gonzalez and Greta Agnew saw them complete the ‘Iron Challenge’.
“A fantastic start to the season for all swimmers across all squads. Coaches have been working hard with the swimmers to implement race skills and it was evident during the racing. It was pleasing to see so many young Hamilton Aquatics swimmers out skilling other clubs and having fun whilst doing it. I am particularly proud of the four Elite Squad swimmers who showed great attitudes and resilience by competing in 16 back to back races, with many of them being PB’s”
