07:00 pm isn’t a normal time to be warming up for a swimming competition, but this wasn’t any ordinary competition. The sun was beginning to set as the young Hamilton swimmers arrived at the pool, excited for what was, for many, their first experience of racing. As the swimming pool lights were turned on, and many parents began to break their fast, the swimmers entered the pool to warm up.
The Hamilton Aquatics’ swimmers that attended, all under 10 years old, currently swim in levels 7, 8 or the Foundation squad. All the children created a wonderful atmosphere cheering on their teammates. The ability on show, Round 1 was Butterfly and Backstroke, was impressive; many demonstrating unbelievable skills that the performance swimmers would be proud of. This is a testament to the hard work the aspiring athletes put in to their respective lessons.
As the evening wound down, the swimmers collected their certificates and left with large smiles on their faces, excited for Round 2 [Breaststroke and Freestyle] on Thursday 15th June.
